Recurring Theme: Destruction of Earth

Postby Planewalker on Wed Feb 25, 2009 9:49 am

I don't have nightmares anymore, I couldn't even imagine how to have one, but periodically I have distressing, extremely vivid dreams that deal with the destruction of the Sun - or another star - and consequentially the Earth. The situation varies strongly each time, the place is different and so is my own identity. Also how exactly it happens is more or less different each time. I'll give three examples:

1. I was driving in a snowmobile across a snow covered landscape at night. It didn't seem to have an engine and what propelled it was unclear to me. Because of the cold I was wrapped in a blanket. When I looked at the black sky, I saw the Sun and the Moon next to each other, at least I assume it was the sun. Both appeared much bigger than they normally do and the Moon glowed dark and bronze red. Then the Sun imploded and after a while, a brief wave of heat spread and ashes rained from the sky. I hid under my blanket until it was over. Slowly it was getting colder now. I drove to a nearby village and waited inside some kind of bookstore for the world to freeze.

2. I lived in a modern house and outside in the garden on the veranda. My family - probably my wife and children - were near. It was night and the sky was black. I was watching the Moon, which was strangely enlarged. Next to it there stood a huge star, the Sun I guess. Suddenly the Moon turned orange red and I realized what was about to happen - probably because of previous dreams. I told my family to get inside and down to the basement, but I knew this would only buy little time. As we turned our backs to the sky and ran inside, it became brighter. I turned around and saw the Sun implode.

3. I was alone in my grandparents' house. It was a sunny day when suddenly the sky turned pitch black. I looked at the clock: about 1:45pm. I had no idea what was happening, but I considered it might be a cosmic event, for example an eclipse. Strange no one told me about such a rare thing to happen today. A rumble of thunder came from the distance. Ah, I thought, it must be a storm. I felt confirmed in that when a strong gust of cold wind passed through the open windows. I guessed it was better to close them, before it starts to rain. When I reached the window, I could see a huge fireball in the distance, that reminded me of a nuclear explosion, only there was no mushroom cloud. Several smaller explosions followed at a closer distance. The rumble grew louder and louder. For some reason I became lucid, but awoke.

As a side note: The first time that dream theme occurred, was at a night after I was using the Sage plant.

How did you feel when the sun imploded and you knew the world was probably going to end? Did you have any kind of fear at all? Or did you just accept it because you knew you were dreaming and nothing would happen to you?

Also, what happened afterwards? Your dreams always seem to end before the world really got destroyed. Did you wake up or get non-lucid every time it happened?

It's hard to tell what those kinds were trying to tell you (if at all). Probably some kind of helplessness, your reports dont sound like you could have done something about it.

Also, what is the SAGE plant? (I have a Sage table for poker hanging on my wall but thats probably something else :P )

Hard to say. I realize there is nothing I can do about it, so I simply accept it as inevitable. Sometimes I even seem to enjoy it, like an adventure.

I always wake up.

Those dreams are non-lucid - that's why I put in in "Non-lucid Dream Discussion" - or semi-lucid at most.

You know I don't believe in dreams being an aspect of the subconscious so I don't interpret them in such ways.

Oops, sorry my fault. I instantly hopped to that topic from the main-page so I didnt notice it was in the non-lucid section.

lol, you said the evil s-word

But thats okay, I'm not too much into interpreting dreams as well
I just thought you wanted to hear some kind of opinion on your recurring dreams and it's hard to comment on any other aspect really.

This is Sage.

Ooh you mean Salvia.. Why dont you just say so :)
Never heard it referenced as Sage.

I had my few experiences with SD, but they were very short always and I dont think it did influence my dreams afterwards at all. I just completely lost my feeling of "self" for a minute or so. Quite interesting experience and shocking too when you come back and ask yourself "Where the f... am I? And WHO the f... am I?"

Because Salvia is a genus with about 900 species. Sage is a common name for the entheogen.
